A plan to revive the forum?

Postby Tony_Stark » Sat Jul 11, 2009 9:52 am

okay, let's get serious here. the forum is dying. that ain't no secret. every day we have less and less posts, there are no new members joining - and the ones who do join never get around to posting, God knows why -, and members like Redstar, jekasanti and even slayer have stopped posting. why? maybe because they don't see anything interesting around here, or because they've realized that, oh my!, the forum is dying and that there's nothing we can do about it.

well, they'd be wrong. we CAN revive the forum. i realize this is something sebastian should be posting, right? but because he hasn't done it, at least not yet, i think we should come up with a plan to revive the forum. what would that be? i have no idea, but we should come up with something. i don't know, promote the crap out of the forum, tell friends and as much people as possible to join it and post and form a community, i don't know. there's gotta be a way. the idea of a forum is to form a community and talk about interesting stuff.....you know, and there are lots of successful ones.

so the basic idea is:

1. promote the forum as much as possible
2. tell as many friends, people, online friends, facebook friends, myspace friends and everybody you know as you can about the forum.
3. keep posting, keep it alive.

hopefully, SOMEONE will eventually read this.

So true, so true. as much as I want this forum to be successful and everything you have said, I have absolutely no idea of how to promote it. Most of my friends don't do this kind of stuff, and it's not like I have an alternate Internet live in which I have hundreds of online friends who I can tell to join the forum. It's simply not like that. And because my main website is Star-Wars related, most of the people who visit it don't join the forum simply because it's not Star-Warsy enough. What should I do? Try to do what you have said, I guess, but I don't know how to do it. Meanwhile, I guess we just have to wait for the overhaul I'm doing to my website. The moment Star Reviews becomes the main one, I guess things could change for the better.

That's the plan, at least. For the moment, it would be awesome if everyone still here helped me promote the forum.

We either don't know how, or it costs... and this is a forum hosted by a free service, for God's sake, I don't think it would be worth it to pay like 10 bucks a month or something like that to get it promoted. Or would it?

In any case, I'm making a couple of moves that might grant us some more people. We'll see in a couple of days.

I have joined this forum to be part of a community in which case will be having discussions of various stuff... I think promoting will be a solution but we need more than that.. because people can join the forum and have infinte members, but if those members just have no willing to post on the forum there is no sense at all of having those members in the forum. I guess the problem is that we might no have a topic that we can discuss on daily... so people do get bored and just don't sign in and look at the new threads and discussions on progress so... I think it might be that there should be more than just movie stuff on the forum (i know it is a movie based forum..but it is not enought to make people post more frequently).
